Kobon is both the name of the band and the album, inspired by the Kobon triangle problem — an unsolved mathematical puzzle about arranging straight lines to create as many triangles as possible.
For the artwork, I built the composition around a triangular grid and the negative spaces formed inside it. The base structure comes from the letters KOBON, constructed within triangles and rotated to create the underlying layout — a hidden detail that becomes visible once you know it’s there. I then filled the shapes with hand-painted flowers to bring warmth and contrast to the geometric structure.
The illustration is entirely hand-painted. Inside the packaging, once the CD is removed, the design reveals a real Kobon problem.
